Waste Management

The ESHH lab works on a variety of waste management topics from both technical and socio-cultural viewpoints. Types of waste covered include:

  • Human faecal waste
  • Livestock waste
  • Organic waste
  • Plastic waste
  • Menstrual waste

Innovative waste management technologies in the ESHH research portfolio include: toilet-linked anaerobic digestion, and black soldier fly larvae processing. The overarching aims of our waste management research are to target pressing public health challenges and explore creative methodologies for creating value from waste.
